There are so many practice demos of this one where you really could see it coming together. There’s a short one with Rob’s opening clean intro riff played over and over. There’s another with that and the big main riff where we just beat it into the ground. This one has the solo and vocals and final song structure but the solo is severely fucked up and we thought it sounded cool this way but we couldn’t recreate it because a pedal malfunctioned that caused it to sound this way in the demo and then it was written to emulate that as best as possible.
When we had done everything else for Without Mr Allred said “okay y’all got anything else?” And we sort of hesitated before playing this for him. We weren’t very confident that it was good enough yet. He heard it and thought otherwise and pushed us to do better so we did. Y’all know the rest.

Give me a soft coo and some heavy shoegaze and I'm all yours. Well, that's not entirely true, there's some shoegaze that causes my eyes to gaze elsewhere with boredom.
